Workshops and Classes

Discover the Japanese art of Sashiko, a meditative stitching practice that transforms tears and holes into beautiful, wearable stories. In this workshop, we'll move beyond simple repair and embrace mending as an act of creative expression. Grounded in the mindful philosophy of "Stitch Your Story," you'll learn the history, tools, and fundamental techniques of Sashiko. You will create a practice sampler and begin your first visible mend, turning a flaw into a feature and adding a new chapter to your garment's life. No sewing experience is necessary—only a willingness to slow down and make your mark.
What You’ll Learn
The history and philosophy behind Sashiko.
How to select and prepare fabric for patches.
How to properly use Sashiko needles, thread, and a palm thimble.
How to mark a grid and master the foundational Sashiko running stitch.
Best practices for starting/ending threads and managing tension to avoid puckering.
What You'll Leave With
A finished Sashiko sampler.
The beginning of a visible mend on an item you bring from home (e.g., jeans, jacket).
The confidence and foundational skills to continue your mending journey.
